Zimbabwe Cricket’s 2021/22 domestic season is set to get underway on Friday, with five men’s provincial teams competing across three formats of the game.

It will all begin with Logan Cup holders Southern Rocks launching the defence of their first-class title against Alliance Health Eagles at Takashinga Sports Club in one of the four-day matches scheduled for 15-18 October, while in the other tie Mountaineers will be taking on Rhinos at Harare Sports Club.

Tuskers’ campaign will only start when they meet Southern Rocks at Takashinga in the 21-24 October fixtures, with Rhinos entertaining Alliance Health Eagles across town at Harare Sports Club.

Six more Logan Cup games will be played – including matches at Masvingo Sports Club and Bulawayo Athletic Club – before the teams switch to white-ball cricket.

Pro50 Championship title-holders Rhinos will host Southern Rocks at Kwekwe Sports Club while Tuskers will be facing Alliance Health Eagles at Bulawayo Athletic Club in back-to-back 50-over fixtures scheduled for 19 and 21 November.

Mountaineers will be involved in their first one-day action of the season when they entertain Rhinos at Mutare Sports Club on 25 and 27 November, with Southern Rocks taking on Tuskers at Masvingo Sports Club on the same dates.

The Pro50 Championship will continue running until the final set for 7 January, although three Regional List A matches pitting the Northerns against Southerns select sides were slotted in between to help the national team to prepare for their international assignment.

The Domestic T20 Competition is scheduled for 24-30 January, immediately followed by Northerns-versus-Southerns matches in the shortest format of the game.

Logan Cup matches will then resume from 9 February up to 9 March, before Regional First-Class games bring the curtain down on the 2021/22 domestic season.
