CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League giants Caps United have all but sealed a deal for veteran former FC Platinum midfielder Ali Sadiki as they plot to come back with renewed vigour after a disappointing first round of the campaign.
The development comes as the restive Caps fans called for an interface with the club hierarchy yesterday where they sought to implore the leadership to come up with a rescue plan for the troubled club.
A source said that the deal to bring Sadiki on board was “as good as done”.
But with the club sitting on a six-match losing streak and a single point above the drop zone after 17 rounds of matches, alarm bells are tolling loud.
Despite having recruited top marksmen, William Manondo and Rodwell Chinyengetere, Caps have surprisingly struggled in front of goals, managing one goal in their last six matches.
That might be one of the reasons which has galvanised the club hierarchy to get back into the market to shore up the squad.
And coach Lloyd Chitembwe, who has accepted responsibility for the lacklustre performance, is said to have impressed the club leaders to bring Sadiki, whom he believes will bring his wealth of experience as the club seeks to reassert itself in the second half of the season.
Sadiki has previously played for Gunners, TP Mazembe, while CS Don Bosco where he was loaned by the Democratic Republic of Congo giants and Harare United where he started off are some of his career stations.
