LEGENDARY hockey star Collin Porgie Williams has died.

He was about 60.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague, friend and Parent Porgie Williams who passed on today. He had suffered with a prolonged illness in recent months,” wrote Kays Kanyangarara on ezemidlalo.net WhatsApp group this afternoon.

“We will all miss him more than words can express,” added Kanyangarara.

Sports journalist Simba Jemwa who covered hockey for Chronicle and Sunday News in the mid 1990s said: “I have tons of fond memories with this legend of hockey. He was a not so gentleman when it came to all things hockey.”

Williams played cricket and hockey for Bulawayo Athletic Club and captained Zimbabwe in the latter.
Funeral arrangements will be announced.

Williams is the father of Zimbabwe cricketer Sean Williams.
