ZIMBABWE Olympic Committee President Thabani Gonye is among eight inductees for the Augustana University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
Gonye an athletics legend confirmed yesterday that he would be inducted to the prestigious honour’s roll at the educational institute on 23-25 September 2022.
“The university advised me of my nomination about two months ago. The Class of 2022 for eight inductees just released recently,” said Gonye.
Gonye holds 14 top marks in Augustana track history.
He is still the 60m record holder after over 30 years and his marks 4×100 and 4x400m indoor and outdoor still stand.
Gonye who also held the national record in the 100m, earned three All-America honours.
He was also a two-time National Collegiate Outdoor Champion and holds the third best time in South Dakota of 46.79 seconds in the 400m.
