The group stages of the Chibuku Super Cup come to a conclusion this weekend with all but one of four groups’ qualifiers now known.

All groups save for Group One wrap up action this weekend and it is in this group that only one of the two expected qualifiers is known while second place is still up in the air, a toss up between Harare City and Caps United. Group toppers Dynamos are through to the next round.

Although Group One leaders, Dynamos have already qualified for the next round, they and their opponents in the group have two more rounds of football still to play in the country’s top tournament.

However, Groups Two, Three and Four still have all to play for and will draw to a tense conclusion as the top two teams in each group battle for the top spot and perhaps a favorable draw in the next round. The second placed teams in the three groups namely, Highlanders, Black Rhinos and FC Platinum all have a chance of pipping the current group table toppers Chicken Inn, Cranborne Bullets and Ngezi Platinum Stars, respectively.

In Group 1, which also had the highest number of teams with six, Dynamos ran rough shod over their opponents topping the group with 20 points from 8 matches while Harare City are second with 13 points though there are two rounds of football still to be played. City are followed in third place by Caps United who have amassed 8 points but could still scrape through should they win their next two matches and City lose theirs.

In Group Two, Chicken top the group but could still be pipped to the post by Highlanders who are only two behind as is the case in Group Three where Cranborne Bullets lead fellow army side Black Rhinos by two points.

Zimbabwe’s two platinum sides, Ngezi Platinum Stars and FC Platinum are in Group Four where they are battling for bragging rights. Ngezi currently lead the group three points ahead of the Zvishavane miners.
