The Basketball Union of Zimbabwe Elective Congress for the Central Board has been pencilled for January 29 next year with Mtshabezi High School in Matabeleland South chosen as the venue for the plebiscite.

The elective congress will bring together the provincial member associations of BUZ, which is currently led by Joe Mujuru who is seeking another term at the helm.

In its notice to affiliates, BUZ said all Central Board positions will be up for grabs including the Presidency, Secretary-General, President of the Technical Commission, President of the Commission for Competitions, President of the Commission for Women and Youth Basketball and President of the Athletes Commission.

The BUZ notice issued by the incumbent Secretary-General, Charmain Chamboko also informed the affiliates of the possible election of three new posts within the Central Board. According to the BUZ notice of the Elective Congress, pending approval at the Extraordinary General Meeting there will also be elections for Treasurer General, President of the Commercial Commission and President of the 3×3 Commission.

In the same notice, BUZ also remined the assembly of their obligations to pay their annual membership fee or risk not being allowed to participate in the Congress and the competitions or events organised by BUZ.

According to the notice, the Congress shall consist of a maximum of two delegates from each affiliated provincial association with the right to one vote. This voting right shall be granted to the first delegate if both are present. The two delegates must present a document signed by the President of their provincial association proving that they are delegates of that association.
